Want to write an ebook but not sure what to write about?
Here are 10 basic ebook types to get you started.
Cookbooks
If you’re a food blogger, a wellness coach, or own a business related to health and/or food, a cookbook is an obvious go-to. Be sure to select recipes that all tie together toward a common goal or topic (i.e. sugar-free, vegan, low-carbs, smoothies/juices, etc).
Workouts
For personal trainers, yogis, or fitness bloggers, workouts are a great way to share your knowledge and specific routines with your clients. You can photograph yourself doing each workout for a personal touch!
Money Management/Budgeting
Everyone wants tips and worksheets that will help them manage their finances, right? Find a specific goal you want to help your clients reach, and walk them through the steps to get there.
“How To” Guides
This is one of the really common ebook types, mainly because you can use it for pretty much any niche. Maybe you want to teach someone how to build a computer from scratch. I used this for my ebook, How To Create An E-Book In 14 Days Or Less.
Calendars or Planners
Moms love these ebooks because it helps them manage their household and keep track of all the things. You can create cleaning calendars, chore charts, weekly planners with built-in grocery lists, meal planning, etc. The possibilities are endless!
Product Comparisons
Otherwise known as a “This vs. That” ebook, you can break down the specifics of any type of product, program, course, etc and talk about which option is best.
Misconceptions About ______
This would be related to your industry; what is something specific that people frequently have misconceptions regarding? Get creative with it!
Personal Growth Stories
Also known as memoirs, you can write an ebook entirely about your real life experiences and how those experiences shaped you. What realizations did you come to from your experiences? What major life lessons have you learned that you think would benefit others?
Step-By-Step Guide
This is similar to a how to e-book, though it is much more specific to a process or workflow rather than just a general how to. I’d consider these to be more in-depth than a how to e-book, though that’s a personal opinion.
Survival Guide
Maybe you want to write an Ultimate Survival Guide to ________, or a ________ 101. My first ebook was The Ultimate College Survival Guide, and the title not only is extremely specific but it also draws attention.
